Thick Lip Gourami - Colisa labiosa

Origin: Rivers accross India
Maximum Size: 3.5" (9cm)
Care: Very easy to keep in a well planted aquarium, with various hiding places, keep in group of 1 Male: 3 Females. A Ph pf 6.0 - 7.5, hardness of 4.0 Dh - 10.0 Dh and a temperature of 22c - 28c (72f - 78f) is essential if you wish to keep this lovely fish.
Tank setup: Planted tank with gentle circulation and some floating plants to make them feel secure.
Compatibility: Normally quite peaceful, but may become territorial with other gouramies or similar fish.
Feeding: Feed thick lip gouramis with tropical fish flakes, and vegetable based flakes, may also accept frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp, both live and frozen.
Breeding: The thick-Lipped gourami is a bubblenest builder. The male creates quite a large bubblenest which he tends to. If possible, remove the female after spawning has taken place.
Sexing: Males are brighter, and they possess an extended dorsal fin.
Comments: Thick lipped gouramis do really well in a well planted community tank, with other peaceful fish.
