Compatability: Aggressive and territorial. Sometimes can be compatable with cichlids same size and aggressiveness.
Feeding: Live earthworms, insects, vegetables, peas, spinach, Pellets, krill, frozen and freeze-dried.
Breeding: Male midas cichlids will harrass and might kill the female if she isn't ready to breed. If in fact they do breed, they will use a vertical structure most of the time. The male will defend the territory while the female will guard the eggs. Eggs hatch in 3 days and are free swimming in 5. Feed the fry at this time with small live foods.
Sexing: Males are generally larger with a larger nuchal hump on their head. Also might have longer fins than the female. Sometimes the female will grow a nuchal hump but it's not as large.
